A Place Called Home is a non-profit organization that works diligently to provide financial stability, education, and emotional support to Southern Los Angeles communities. This organization was in need of a website redesign as their current site had dated information that was poorly organized and difficult to maintain on their own without a webmaster’s assistance.
We began this project by first meeting with the client and creating a sitemap that worked best for their needs and simplified the navigation overall. Afterwards we then moved into their brand guidelines and discussed ways to use their color palette in an ADA friendly way for their new site design. Once all of this was approved we then moved to developing the initial designs within Figma, keeping in mind that this would be built within WordPress using the Divi theme.
This web design showcases unique subtle features like scroll effects and custom illustrated icons for statistic numbers on the homepage to draw the user’s eye as they scroll through the page. A Place Called Home’s website also has an event calendar to easily show all of their upcoming community events and uses a translation plugin so that their demographic whose first language is Spanish can easily read the content throughout the site.
